1966 — Chicagoan Tom Mutz launches Unique Indoor Comfort after he and associates purchase Iron Fireman Heating and Cooling of Milwaukee, WI.
1967 — Mutz establishes himself as a pioneer and expert in the installation of High Velocity Air Conditioning, a revolutionary air-conditioning system designed for homes built without air-conditioning. He soon opens Libertyville Unique Indoor Comfort (IL), Moncrief Unique Indoor Comfort (GA), and Indianapolis Unique Indoor Comfort (IN).
1972 — Tom Mutz's longtime business associate, Steve Rothacker, joins Unique as a partner. Over the next 17 years, Rothacker opens Unique Indoor Comfort-affiliated businesses in Elmhurst, IL, Northbrook, IL, Dallas, TX, and Philadelphia, PA.
1973 — Tom Mutz's son Frank joins the Atlanta office as a customer service representative. He quickly rises through the company ranks and is currently the Chairman of the Board for Moncrief Unique Indoor Comfort, along with holding ownership and leadership roles in many of the affiliated companies.
1989 — After serving in the U.S. Navy, Steve Rothacker's son, Jack, comes to King of Prussia, PA to start and manage the Philadelphia office. Over his 18 year stewardship, he has opened offices in New York, Boston and Maryland.
Today — With offices in eight states and a legacy of four generations of industry experience, Unique Indoor Comfort is one of the largest and most respected heating and air conditioning contractor companies in the nation. Each individually-owned and managed office is linked by a common mission and unwavering commitment to customer service.
